Starter embroidery kit

If you, or someone you know, wants to try embroidery, then this kit is for you. We’ve put together everything you need to start. Our exclusive kit includes Susie Johns’ “How to Embroider”, a large-format, well-illustrated book that shows you how to do all the essential embroidery stitches and suggests a few projects too; a 22cm (9″) wooden hoop; two 12″ squares of white canvas, one with traced design (seen complete here) and one plain for your own ideas; 8 x bobbins of stranded cotton embroidery floss: 8m green, and 4m each of blue, pink, lilac, yellow, orange, yellow, black and white; pack of crewel needles, a needle threader, and pop-up thread snips. The whole kit is contained in a sturdy zipped pouch that you can take anywhere.

Embroidery is a wonderfully mindful pastime and requires very little in the way of tools and materials, making it a great travel companion. Hoop embroidery is generally a very freestyle craft with few rules. While we’ve provided a limited assortment of coloured embroidery thread, we’ve made no recommendations for stitches or use of colours. It’s entirely up to you how you choose to complete your design. Your finished embroidery will be unique to you.
